About me
We so often feel like our identity is tied to work and because of that, when our work is under heavy scrutiny or isn't going to plan, we feel like failures. For me, this was because I built my adult identity after I started my career. In 2022, I went on a journey to rebuild my identity separate from my work. After spending years of my life building my career in financial technology as a leader, manager, and eventually a head of a department, I decided to take a career break to reassess what I actually wanted my life to feel like for the next 10 years. This time was one of the most impactful periods of my life so far and this is what led me to coaching. My biggest realization was that I built my career in a way that felt authentic to me. This meant that every accomplishment I had, I was proud of and this was also true of my personal life. As a coach, I want to help as many people as I can feel that same feeling that I had once I reflected. I strongly believe that when who we are as a person and how we work are in alignment, that is when we start doing our best work.
I work with most types of people but I feel the most excited when I’m working with middle managers or individual contributors. This group often has little exposure to coaching that is not their direct manager which means that there is a power dynamic within the coaching relationship. Senior leaders are often given coaches to help them further excel, but senior leaders are often not representative of what the world looks like (white, cis, straight men). I love working with my clients because I see value in building up diverse leaders to have the confidence to feel successful in their professional and working life. It’s why I hope to continue growing my practice to work with professionals who self identify as BIPOC or part of the 2SLGBTQ+ community.

Experience

I consider myself to have an unconventional background all which have brought me to this current point in my career. I have proudly navigated multiple industries including recreation, child and family services, retail management and financial tech. My personal tenacity and desire to want to see others succeed meant that I naturally moved into leadership roles within many of those fields that I explored. Most notably, I spent 5+ years building and managing teams within financial technology as a customer experience lead, manager, and eventually as a Head of Customer Experience. My experience as a people manager meant that I helped guide my direct reports through nuanced challenges that spanned from personal to professional and from performance to imposter syndrome. I found myself being at my best when I was able to treat my direct reports as people who felt invested in.
Most recently, I decided to take a career break and within that time I was able to start my coaching journey. Since early 2022, I have been working towards completing 76 hours of immersive, experiential coach training with Essential Impact and am excited to earn my Certified Leadership Coach designation with them within the beginning of 2023. Outside of getting the formalized training, I’ve also completed over 25 hours of coaching experience with clients who are grateful for the time that we have spent together. My goal is to become an Associate Accredited Coach with the International Coaching Federation by the end of 2023.
My lived experience as a person of colour, immigrant and queer person means that I have experienced life as an intersectional person. While there is more to me than these labels, it means that I see the world outside of the black and white and embrace all of the gray tones that the world offers. I understand that for others who navigate the world from perspectives similar to mine, we often have nuanced challenges that are linked with how the world sees us. My ultimate goal as a coach is to be able to level the playing field for intersectional professionals and see more of us within corporate leadership because I know that we have the ability to do so.
